But having me tell you this, and you thinking this isn’t enough—because you’ve been inundated for too long with external and internal messages that tell you you’re not good enough the way you are. It’s hard-wired into your brain that you need to do more, be more, be better, please others, (the list could go on).
To negate these internalized, subconscious, false perceptions, it’s to your benefit to take the actions that feel and prove to yourself that you look, think, feel and are “all-right,” already. Loving your body, yourself, better every day gets you off the merry-go-round of people-pleasing, over-doing, stuffing feelings and ignoring or denying what your body is really telling you.
Stopping these self-defeating behaviors facilitates positive, confident, good feelings within you and exponentially you attract more and more joyful experiences, success opportunities, authentic support, and heartfelt love back to you. When you love yourself more, you get more of the good stuff in life that you want!
Now, you may not know exactly what you want, but more than likely you know what you don’t want. I knew what I didn’t want.
I knew I didn’t want to be single for my entire life. I knew I wanted to feel heard and have genuine support in my family and friend relationships. I knew I wanted different work. I knew I wanted to have fun and feel like I belong. I knew I wanted to get some of that good stuff in life the media was always showing me, but that I hadn’t gotten—yet.
When I quit looking for answers outside myself and took the time to stop trying to control others and situations, my life changed for the better. Switching my focus away from how I looked to others, instead to how I felt in my body and how I could foster more self-love, made all the difference. I stopped feeling lonely, being isolated, confused as to how to make relationships work, acting fearful, and running chaotically from one experience, and man, to another.
